Biography
Chaoshu Zeng is an Associate Professor at the College of Marine and Environmental Sciences, James Cook University (JCU), Australia. He obtained both his BSc and MSc in Marine biology from Xiamen University, China and his PhD from the University of Wales, Bangor, UK. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Kyoto University and at Seikai National Fisheries Research Institute, Nagasaki, Japan.To date, he has published more than90 publications, of which 83 are published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is on the editorial boards of several international journals and has been invited to review grant applications for a number of international funding agencies. He is currently also appointed as a visiting chair professor at Xiamen University, China and as an adjunct professor at Shanghai Ocean University, China.
Research Interest
Dr. Chaoshu Zeng research interests include development of culture techniques for commercially important crustaceans and marine ornamentals; ecophysiology and behaviour of crustacean larvae and juveniles; toxicology of effluent water to aquatic animals; crustacean nutrition and formulated feed development; as well as copepod biology and culture. He currently leads two research teams, focusing on development of aquaculture techniques for tropical crustaceans and captive breeding of marine ornamentals,respectively, at JCU.
Biography
Katherine Hawes is the founder of Aquarius Lawyers and Aquarius Education. With over 20 years' proven legal and business experience, she’s expertise lies in advising and representing organizations and businesses on issues pertaining to the marine environment. This includes aquaculture, marine and fisheries law, maritime security and marine resources management. She also has extensive litigation and dispute resolution experience and is experienced in assisting businesses establish themselves with the Asia-Pacific environment. She is currently the legal counsel for the Association of International seafood professionals and is a director of the World Aquaculture Society. She has appeared before the Full Court of the High Court and is often asked to be a guest lecture at Australian universities on topics such as International Fisheries Law and Tourism Law. Due to her vast experience in legal issues which affect the marine environment, She is regularly asked to speak at large international events. Biography
Kirsten Heimann is the director of the North Queensland Algal Identification/Culturing Facility at James Cook University, Townsville, Australia and initiated and built the AMCRC microalgal carbon capture and leads the methane bioremediation project at JCU. The biomass is used for commercial algal co-products. She received competitive research funding of more than $16 million. She has published extensively in high ranking journals including Nature.Her research has won many awards, the NQ Corporate Business Women Award 2011 being the latest.

Kirsten Heimann current research interests are Industrial-scale innovative cultivation and biofilter designs. Biochemical profiling of microalgae, fungi and microbes for renewable bio-products including novel aquaculture feeds and bio-fertiliser applications.
