Biography
Patrick TK Woo has been a faculty member at the University of Guelph (UoG), Canada since 1974. He was Director, Axelrod Institute of Ichthyology, and in 2005 the UoG Senate elected him University Professor Emeritus. Prior to his academic appointment at UoG he was MRC Postdoctoral Fellow and Ballard Fellow, UoG; FAO Andre Mayer Research Fellow, East African Trypanosomiasis Research Organization, and Serengeti Research Instituteand IDRC Consultant/Scientist, Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research His other appointments/awards (1985-2014) include as NUS Visiting Research Professor, National University of Singapore, and as short-term Visiting Professor/Scholar/Research Fellow/Scientist at 18 other Universities/Institutes in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. He was Plenary/Keynote/Symposium speaker at 46 conferences, presented >50 public lectures/seminars at universities, recipient of ‘The Robert Wardle Award’, and elected Fellow of The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He was/is editor-in-chief, executive editor, associate editor, specialty editor of 4 scientific journals; editor of 10 books; currently member of 4 editorial boards; has published 198 peer-reviewed papers in journals, 19 review articles and 55 abstracts in conference proceedings, and 15 book chapters. He founded the ‘Roy C Anderson Memorial Lecture in Parasitology’ in 2001 and has been organising it since its inception.
