Biography

ANDRZEJ MAMCARZ - Professor of Fisheries, Doctor of Natural Sciences. In 1974 graduated with the award at Faculty of Water Protection & Inland Fisheries, Academy of Agriculture & Technology in Olsztyn. Qualified as Master of Science in Fisheries after defending the master thesis entitled "Distribution of fish fry in Siemiany Bay of Lake Jeziorak". Qualified as D. Sc. in 1983 at the same Faculty after defending doctoral thesis entitled "Variability of biometric features in peled (Coregonus peled Gmelin 1788) during culturing in lake cages". Qualified as Associate Professor in Fisheries in 1991 at Faculty of Marine Fisheries, Szczecin Agricultural University after evaluation scientific activity and defending thesis on "Conditions for growth of Coregonus peled larvae in cage rearing". Professor of Fisheries from 1998. Dean of the Faculty of Water Protection & Inland Fisheries in 1993-1996, Head of Fisheries Department at University of Warmia & Mazury in Olsztyn since 1991, and Department of Lake & River Fisheries to 2009. Member of Editorial Board of Acta Academiae Agriculturae AC Technicae Olstenensis in 1991-1996, Electronic Journal of Polish Agriculture Universities (Fisheries) in 1998-2000, Journal of Aquaculture Engineering and Fisheries Research (2015-actual). Specialised in aquaculture (larviculture) and lake fishery. The author over 400 publications, chapters in books and scripts for students. Published, among others, in Archiv fur Hydrobiologie, Archives of Polish Fisheries, Aquaculture, Aquaculture Engineering, Aquaculture International, Aquaculture Research, Acta Hydrobiologica, Boletin lnstituto Espanol de Oceanografia, Caryologia, Czech Journal of Animal Science, Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, European Aquaculture Society Special Publication, Finnish Fisheries Research, ICES Marine Science Symposia, Ichthyological Research, Italian Journal of Animal Science, Italian Journal of Zoology, Journal of Food Composition and Analysis, Journal of Thermal Biology, Polskie Archiwum Hydrobiologii, Polish Journal of Natural Sciences, Reviews in Fish Biology and Fisheries, The Progressive Fish-Culturist, Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Zeitschrift der Binnenfischerei DDR. The most important life virtues according him are moral courage, truth and loyalty.
